Are the services covered under OHIP?

OHIP does not cover the cost of Chiropody services. Our fees are often covered in part or whole by many private health insurance plans, Native Affairs, Department of Veteran Affairs, Workers Safety Insurance Board (WSIB). Please consult your insurance company.

What is a foot orthotic (shoe insert)?

A foot orthotic is a device that inserts into your shoe. Orthotics help to realign the 33 joints of the foot and support the arch. This can result in a reduction or elimination of your foot, ankle, knee, hip or lower back pain when worn with appropriate shoe gear. For more detailed information, please visit the Orthotics page.

What should I look for to help me find a good shoe?

Go to a reputable shoe store to ensure proper fitting. A shoe should fit 1/2″ longer than your longest toe. The toe box should be deep and wide enough to allow you to freely move your toes. Laces or retaining media are important features. For a list of reputable shoe stores and individual shoe prescriptions, contact your Chiropodist.
